G Gathering Chesapeake Sports Club

Chesapeake Sports Club

The monthly Chesapeake Sports Club meeting was recently held at the Chesapeake Conference Center where two new Legends of Honor were inducted. William "Fella" Rhodes was a Great Bridge Wildcat where he played football and ran track. He continued on at East Carolina University, later returning to teach and coach in Great Bridge.

The second athlete to be named a Legend of Honor, was Jack Gaines. Jack spoke of how his adversities along the way, such as being an African-American athlete during a time of segregation, and being drafted at the height of his baseball career, had "seasoned" the path that made him who he is today.
